You don’t have to be rich
to win at airifle FT contests… You don’t have to use great big, clumsy
super heavy field target airguns and scopes… You do need a “genuine”
“custom” stockmaker, a decent precharge pneumatic airifle and a suitable
scope…Here a “£140” scope (6x32mmx50.)… An airarms S410 (without a
regulator)… But most of all a stock “made for you”…
The existing factory beechstock was rebuilt into a thumbhole with ergo
grip.. Fitted multi adjust buttpad.. Fitted forend ‘hamster’.. “long
stipled” for “grip” with walnut fitments and hand finished beechwood. A
beautiful and extremely practical rifle appears… Owner knows his scope!
Knows his rifle! And has a stock that fits “him”!…
He always wins competitions… Stockwork was only £350! You do the sums…
and win all ways!!

Customer. "Don I have a Walter Airifle
that looks like a Winchester 94.
"Yes" says Don. "Well," says customer,
"The stock is horrible and plain !" , "New fancy walnut handmade" says Don. "Pweehh!!" says customer.
"Well if you have it laminated in genuine
high figure walnut, and looks as good and is quicker to
do!" says Don.
"That'll do for me." says customer.
He's happy, what do you think ?? |

"It's only
beechwood" I am always told when I suggest doing stock-work for
customers....."Is it worth it ?" ..Well you be the judge !. Here
is shown an airarms S400 airifle stock, re-built into a thumbhole
masterpiece. Fine fitting....Best root walnut gripcap, "Best London"
butt pad with walnut "stock lengthen spaler..
Top quality wrap
around stipling for "Everywhere" and grip and tiger male cheek
face.
The "Best
London" hand rubbed oil finish makes the "Beech" stock look really
classy and shows off the speckled "Ray" figuring to perfection.

Can you make my
Daystate LR90 into a thumbhole stocked masterpiece Don, says Dave, for
£400? I want some "very fancy walnut on it and fancy exotic wood gripcap
and foretip and better styling and "My" scope sighting.
Daystate LR 90
action. Don....Rebuilt....Stock...Features "burr walnut " laminations.
"Hand supporting" gripcap in "satinwood" with matching foretip "schnabble"
(Eagle Beak).
Full thumbhole.
Wrap around stiple on grip + forend. Fitted to the shooter's build for
comfort and accuracy improvement. Best tough finish. "A masterpiece of
the stockmaker's art for a trifle" says Dave. "I do my best for my
customers", says Don. What more can you ask for ? |

Don's "Pharoah
Eye" thumbhole.
"Beech" S410
Airarms pneumatic airifle. Thumbhole too and it must fit. Some fine walnut, a finish to bring out
the beauty and plenty of area to grip the rifle around handgrip and forend in "Best Stripling".
Better looking
buttpad & "hand supporting" gripcap are a must#, better styling with a
more refined and defined forend & foretip. dainty end cylinder cap would
be nice and graceful to improve overall flowing beauty and aid symmetry.
"OK" says Don
"give me 3 weeks.....is that OK?" "Brilliant " says customer, "how do
you do it?". "By using factory stock as a rough base and rebuilding it
to suit you, how you want it and at your price!". "Sounds good to me,
get on with it" answers the customer. Enough said. |

The HW80 spring
airifle has been around so long it must be growing whiskers.
Nevertheless shooters will still lavish love and attention on their
precious rifle, a wonderful indictment on this now timeless, classic.
hence when an 80 with a broken at the grip beech stock, yet with a
superb tuned action and an added silencer came along, the owner was
dubious, especially when Don told him the cost for a matchless
masterpiece rebuilt broken stock would be £350 !!!...."It's not the cost
Don" he says, but I can't believe you can do it!
A few weeks
later when he picked up the rifle, he started believing in miracles!
Twice as strong as a new stock with the added bonus of fit, finish and
looks that are priceless! |
